Bethesda, MD area dermatology practice offers Botox®
Most people have heard of Botox® injections, but many in the Bethesda area are unsure of the safety, effectiveness, and the affordability of this particular treatment for anti-aging benefits. Dr. Ron Prussick and the team at Washington Dermatology Center can help patients learn more about this amazing injectable and explain how it can be used for both medical and cosmetic concerns.
Botox® was developed to help reduce muscle contractions. This medication is used in applications such as overactive bladder, excessive sweating, and even cervical dystonia. However, over the years, it was found that Botox® could be used for cosmetic purposes as well. This injectable, made of botulinum toxin type A, can reduce the muscle contractions in the face, in turn resulting in an anti-aging effect. Botox® has been found to be highly beneficial in addressing fine lines, wrinkles, and folds on the upper portion of the face, and is commonly used on areas such as the forehead folds, glabellar lines, and the wrinkles around the eyes referred to as crow’s feet. Crow’s feet are the fine lines that develop outward from the corners of the eyes; they are often caused by many years of smiling and laughing.
Botox® is FDA approved for both medical and cosmetic use. It can provide amazing results in both applications. Patients will find that Botox® is also relatively affordable and can provide long-lasting results. Reinjection will be necessary to maintain the results, but these are typically done approximately 3-6 months apart. Patients also love that they can combine Botox® injections with other anti-aging solutions such as Juvéderm®, which is a hyaluronic acid filler that provides similar results. When used together, dermal fillers and neuromodulators can dramatically enhance natural youth quickly and easily with just one dermatology appointment.
