What is an effective way to get rid of frown lines? Dysport treatment in our office near Potomac may help
When we frown, we do so by pulling the muscles between our brows together. This movement creates lines between the brows. Sometimes frowning will cause a horizontal line to form on the bridge of the nose. We frown when we want to convey sadness, displeasure, or worry. We may also frown inadvertently when the sun hits our eyes. Lines can form between the brows, as well, due to the breakdown of supportive tissues in the skin coupled with daily activities for which we focus sharply, like working at the computer.
The repeated contractions of the muscles on the upper part of the face eventually cause the inability to relax this area. The result of these lines is the appearance of fatigue or anger. Dr. Ronald Prussick and his experienced team at Washington Dermatology Center have been helping patients erase frown lines with great success for several years. In addition to treating dynamic wrinkles with Botox®, we also offer Dysport® as an alternative to the original wrinkle-reducing treatment.
What is Dysport?
This injectable solution, used in our office near Potomac, is similar to Botox®. Approved by the FDA in 2009, Dysport® is a neuromodulator that blocks the signals to facial muscles that cause their contraction. Though your brain may command muscles to frown, muscles do not receive the signals and, therefore, remain relaxed. The benefit of muscle relaxation on the forehead and around the eyes is smooth, wrinkle-free skin.
What to expect
Treatment with Dysport® takes place in our comfortable office. Dr. Prussick or one of his experienced staff applies the wrinkle-reducing solution with great precision to accomplish the most beautiful results. Within about fifteen minutes, treatment is complete and our patient may return to his or her normal activities. The average period in which patients can see visible results from treatment is three days, though the overall effect can gradually improve for up to a month. Typical results from treatment last about four months, but some studies show the potential for longer lasting effects.
We know you would much rather share a smile than a frown. Contact Washington Dermatology Center to learn more about our wrinkle-reducing treatments.
