Which patients in Germantown are appropriate candidates for dermal needling?

Dr Ronald B. Prussick, Washington Dermatology Center Describing Dermal Needling Procedure

Dr. Ron Prussick and the associates of the Washington Dermatology Center welcome patients in and around the areas of Germantown, Rockville, Potomac, and Frederick to visit their state-of-the-art dermatological practice to learn about the advantages of many cosmetic treatments including dermal needling.

Dermal needling has been recently used for patients who are seeking a non-invasive alternative to procedures such as IPL or laser therapy that may require significant downtime for healing. Dr. Ron Prussick finds that dermal needling can be used in a number of situations and many patients are appropriate candidates for dermal needling. The procedure is done with a device called the microneedling device. This device used for improving the skin and reducing many imperfections including surgical scars, acne scars, stretch marks, large pores, and overall texture and tone.

The microneedling device uses several tiny needles that puncture the skin. While this may sound as though it will do more harm than good, it actually results in a healing effect during which the skin will rebuild collagen and elastin. These are the elements that contribute to firm, beautiful, youthful skin and can reduce the appearance of many textural imperfections.

Dermal needling is done in our practice without anesthesia. It is a relatively simple procedure during which patients will relax comfortably in the treatment chair. Numbing cream may be applied onto the skin for optimum protection and to reduce the discomfort often felt from the needles. The skin will be treated in a “stamping” method instead of a more typical “rolling treatment” that has been used in the past for dermal needling. Patients of all skin types and colors may benefit from dermal needling and may find it to be a wonderful alternative to more invasive procedures with extended social downtime and recovery.

If you live in the area of Frederick and want to find out if dermal needling with the microneedling device is right for you, contact Dr. Ron Prussick and the professionals of the Washington Dermatology Center. We assist patients with achieving the skin of their dreams in a non-invasive, affordable manner—without the need for plastic surgery!
