Dermal Needling

Today we have a vast array of treatment options for the correction of common skin imperfections. dermal needling, performed with the microneedling device, is used for the successful reduction of
- Acne scars
- Large pores
- Surgical scars
- Stretch marks
This innovative rejuvenating treatment can also be used in many situations in which general refreshing of the skin is desired. The microneedling device features several very fine needles, and is placed against the skin to produce tiny “piercings”, or holes. Treating the skin with this stamping method, rather than a rolling method, allows us to reach an ideal depth while preserving much of the epidermis. Skin treated with the microneedling device responds with an abundant production of collagen, which enhances and remodels the skin. Because no heat or laser is involved in treatment, the microneedling device is suitable for a wide variety of skin types, even dark skin. We are happy to be one of the leading providers of microneedling device treatment in the Rockville area.
What to Expect
Microneedling device treatment is completed by a highly trained member of our dermatology team after the application of nourishing serum is applied to clean skin. Because the needles used in treating the skin are very fine, there is minimal discomfort in the thirty to sixty minutes the microneedling device is in use. For a greater degree of comfort, a topical numbing cream may also be applied before treatment begins.
Visible improvement will be noticed after each microneedling device treatment. Our team will design a skin rejuvenating plan based on your overall needs, which may include a series of three to five treatments. Sessions may be scheduled four to six weeks apart.
Following a dermal needling treatment at our Rockville dermatology practice, skin will appear red, and should be adequately protected from UV rays. Our team will provide you with specific after-care instructions to promote optimal results and fast healing.
Standard dermal needling has taken place with a needle roller. The microneedling device differs as this device does not rely on hand pressure to create tiny holes in the skin. The microneedling device electronic dial precisely sets the depth to which needles will pierce, facilitating greater comfort and a more predictable outcome.
