Meet the Team

Ronald B. Prussick, MD, FRCPC

Ronald B. Prussick, MD, FRCPCDr. Prussick is our medical director at The Washington Dermatology Center, where he has assembled the latest in technology and products for specialized medical and cosmetic dermatological care. Our state-of-the-art facilities, which are HIPAA compliant, are designed to successfully treat diseases that affect the hair, skin, and nails.

A Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at George Washington University, Dr. Prussick has been published many times, and he frequently speaks at medical conferences around the country and internationally. He has served a variety of community organizations by volunteering as a committee member, such as the Chairman of the Adverse Drug Reactions Sub-Committee at Suburban Hospital.

Dr. Prussick has been voted one of the top doctors by the Washingtonian Magazine time after time, and has been repeatedly named one of America’s Top Physicians by the Consumers Research Council. Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1991, he received extensive training in the specialization of laser treatments as well as the treatment for psoriasis.

Academic appointments of Dr. Prussick, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, include:

  • Completed fellowship, and clinical consultant for the Dermatology Branch of the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health.
  • Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology, George Washington University School of Medicine.
  • Clinical Instructor, Division of Dermatology & Pharmacology, Dept. of Medicine, University of Toronto (1992 – 1995).
  • Studied medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Prussick has served as an advisory board member or speaker for companies including AbbVie, Allergan, Amgen, Biogen/Idec, Genentech, Janssen, Leo Pharma, Medicis/Valeant, Merk, L’Oreal, Medimetriks and has worked in the capacity of cosmetic trainer for Allergan and Medicis/Valeant.

He has served on the Medical Board for the National Psoriasis Foundation and helped create the Elasense Skin Care line for Immunotec,Inc .

He has also been a Clinical researcher for Novartis, Genentech, Gene Logic Corporation, Galderma, Dow Pharmaceuticals, Astra Pharma, Amgen, and 3M.

Dr. Prussick’s Staff:

Mary Piazza Maiberger M.D.

Dr. Mary Piazza Maiberger is native to the Washington area. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in English before attending medical school at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Earning her medical degree, she was recruited into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Maiberger completed an internship in Internal Medicine as well as her Dermatology Residency at MCV/VCU where, in her last year, she was Chief Resident.

With an early affection for dermatology, beginning during medical training, Dr. Maiberger was keenly aware of the signs internal disease would show on the skin. She also sympathized with those suffering from skin conditions, understanding that quality of life can be severely impacted by skin disease. Dr. Maiberger has extensively researched both skin cancer and tanning behaviors, and has published research and presented at major medical conferences on inflammatory skin conditions.

Dr. Maiberger, who lives in Maryland with her husband and daughters, provides general dermatological care, with a focus on acne/rosacea, skin cancer prevention, and inflammatory skin disorders. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

Henry Yan M.D.

Dr. Henry Yan (M.D.) is a nationally certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the United States. He was an attending Dermatology physician and an assistant professor in the first hospital of China Medical University (Shenyang, China) Prior to coming to the United States.

After obtaining his M.D. degree in China, Dr. Henry Yan joined the Dermatology residency program for four years and the Dermatology fellowship program for two years at China Medical University (Shenyang, China). During these six years, he was well trained in Clinical Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Dermatologic Surgery. After finishing his Dermatology Fellow Program, he joined the Department of Dermatology in the first hospital of China Medical University as an attending physician and an assistant professor, teaching and working on the Clinical Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery and Dermatopathology. In 1997, Dr. Henry Yan was invited as a visiting researcher to come to the United States and join the Melanoma immunotherapy research program led by Dr. David Berd at Thomas Jefferson University hospital (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and continued his research at the University of Maryland Medical Center (Baltimore, Maryland).

Dr. Henry Yan greatly loves clinical Dermatology and in order to work as a clinical dermatologist in the United States, upon finishing his research project, he went to the Physician Assistant Program in Mercy College (Dobbs Ferry, New York) and obtained his M.S degree as Physician Assistant. He compassionately serves and cares for his patients with his vast clinical experiences and knowledge.

Dr. Henry Yan loves to spend time with his family including his wife, two sons, daughter and pet dog. He also enjoys playing soccer, reading with his children and being outdoors, especially in his vegetable garden. Henry is a great believer in eating and living healthy, and greatly encourages his patients to do the same.

Meryl Elyse Gudelsky, R.N., BSN

Meryl Elyse Gudelsky, R.N., BSNMeryl earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Downstate Medical Center in 1982. Until 1993, she worked in the Operating Room at Sibley Memorial Hospital. She then became a skin care specialist, first working in plastic surgery before joining the staff at The Washington Dermatology Center in Rockville. In addition to providing personalized skin care treatment and guidance to our patients, Meryl performs laser hair removal and other laser treatments, as well as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and photo facials.
